Mystery 99 The Ark – Three-day celebration

Mystery 99 The Ark - Three-day celebration

2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture is setting up a three-day celebration to say goodbye to the Belgian collective TimeCircus that returns to Antwerp after six months and to hand over – now officially – ARKOPOLIS, the ark of eternal youth, this unique cultural space to young people and to the residents of Elefsina.

Location:

Fins oute here.

TimeCircus started from Belgium in May 2022 and traveled 3,000 kilometers to Elefsina, in the largest pilgrimage in the city’s history. Here, they envisioned and created ARKOPOLIS, a place of meeting, collaboration, inclusion, free creation consisting of original architectural structures, the Ark, and the Sphere. A space that aims to bring young people of all ages closer, a space that proves that culture is an integral part of Elefsina, of life itself.

The initiators of ARKOPOLIS are returning to their base, letting their creation take on a life of its own, but before that they say goodbye to the city and its inhabitants with a three-day celebration that has it all: food, music, screenings, dj sets, parties, pop-up events, joys, emotions and many surprises.

The program starts on Friday morning (September 29) and includes pancakes for young and old, planting in the garden, screenings, the unforgettable Globo Swing experience, disco party with rollerblades, cool watermelon cocktails and – of course – the famous Belgian fries for all! The following day (Saturday, September 30), at 19.00, the official delivery of ARKOPOLIS will take place in the city of Elefsina with the blessings of the High Priests of Inspiration and in the presence of representatives of the city of Genk where ΑRK was first created. This will be followed by the screening of the documentary Greek Animal Rescue by Menelaos Karamaggiolis and two more short films related to the animal welfare activities of TimeCircus, while, in the evening, legendary DJs from Elefsina and Antwerp set fire to the dancefloor in a wild party that will be remembered for a long time… Those who are on the third and last day of the celebrations (Sunday, October 1) at ARKOPOLIS, will have the opportunity to discover the magical world of cricket and taste traditional dishes from the Pakistani community in the area, while in the evening the Albanian community will set the largest table in Elefsina for the last TimeCircus dinner.

We are waiting for you!

*The Ark, the main structure of ARKOPOLIS, was originally designed and built in 2017 by the Constructlab network in Genk, Belgium.
