In May 2023, 350 10- to 15-year-old students from 22 schools in Greece, Germany and the Western Balkans met in Elefsina to take part in an original meeting entitled Mystery 149 Transition to a Climate Neutral Future. The mission was shared: to build with their ideas a collective vision for the city they dream of and want to live in.
In this context, on Wednesday, October 25, the project team will present the results of the Conference, such as the video and the students’ resolution, at the Art and Culture Refreshment Center, with proposals for a climate-neutral Elefsina. Educators, students, experts and other participants in the conference will share their experience and discuss with institutions and representatives of the local society, exploring the new horizons of the original methodology followed, thus opening perspectives for new forms of visioning for the city, Elefsina, but also for every European city that aspires to immediately take an active role in dealing with the environmental crisis.
The idea and implementation of the Conference on the theme ” Transition to a Climate Neutral Future” resulted from the collaboration of four Environmental Education Officers from the Directorates of Primary Education of Western Attica, 1st and 3rd of Athens, and Secondary Education of Eastern Thessaloniki, with the Renewable Energy Center of Resources and Energy Savings (KAPE), which coordinated the whole project, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Religion and with the financial assistance of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the European Climate Initiative Program (EUKI) and the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture,
This idea, as the fruit of visioning workshops before the Congress in each school, became a reality in Elefsina and now begins the journey of its dissemination through a video – testimony of this experience, with the hope of inspiring, empowering schools, cities, cultural organizations and be a legacy to every local community for climate action here and now.

The artistic installation “Voices of Elefsina” by Berlin artist Karl Heinz Jeron, is presented in the context of the project Mystery 37 VOICES OF ELEFSINA of 2023 Eleusis, in collaboration with the team of the Zoetrope Athens art space. A live experience, in the form of a sound walk, which will be inaugurated in Elefsina on 28 April.
From April 13th to April 16th, 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture presents an exhibition with artistic creations by Nicoletta Granitsa (aka Magemeli, a name that is inspired by the “alchemical” society of bees), under the title: Mystery 197 Paper World – A Letter to Eleusis, at the Canteen – Art Hub.
