Elefsina Beach – Refreshment

In the Framework:

In the framework of the events of the 2023 Eleusis, a cycle of actions began in February, with the general title Mystery 100 THE SACRED SONGS, which focuses on traditional events and rituals in the Greek music and dance tradition. The scientific and artistic curator is Lambros Liavas, professor of ethnomusicology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.Rituals in the cycle of Life cover the human journey “from cradle to death”: birth, childhood, love-marriage, estrangement, death. While the events in the cycle of Time and Vegetation “homeopathically” accompany agricultural and livestock occupations through symbolic actions-customs with the widespread participation of the community, the events for “The Sacred Songs” are distributed throughout 2023 and mark the main seasonal stations.

The next action of the cycle, on Friday June 23, 2023 at 20:00-21:30 on the beach of Elefsina (next to the Refreshment), entitled “Come out Sun, burn me!..” comes to celebrate the symbolic start of Summer with the Summer Solstice. Reference will be made to the popular events associated with the feast of St. John of “Klidonas”, with the ritual fires and the divine power of the “unspeakable water”, and selected songs from all over Hellenism that refer to the sun will be heard, the harvest and the sea.
