Oasis – Former Camping, the site that hosted the 1st Ecoculture Festival of 2023 Eleusis, was purchased by by the Municipality of Elefsina

The Oasis – Former Camping, an abandoned lung of green in the city was purchased by the Municipality of Elefsina. 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture has activated recently the outdoor space Oasis – Former Camping, as a new space for open cultural activities related to the pillar of the Environment – Ecoculture.

The total area amounts to 20,543.00 square meters, of which 12,309.00 sq.m. -which also constitute the purchase area- are owned by the National Bank and 8,234.00 sq.m., owned by the Municipality of Elefsina. The agreed purchase price was set at the amount of 1,062,268 euros, while the objective value of the properties is estimated at the amount of 1,356,405 euros. The purchase will be carried out without any charge on the municipal budget, and specifically from the amount of 20 million euros secured by the Municipal Authority from the Ministry of the Interior. With the redevelopment of the Oasis, the Municipality of Elefsina is going to acquire the largest leisure park in the city, which will be a pole of attraction for both city residents and visitors.

Mystery _50 Ecoculture Festival^, the First Ecoculture Festival ever held in Elefsina and the wider region, was completed with great success on the Weekend of September 24 & 25, at the forming camping site, OASIS, an area of rare natural beauty on the outskirts of the city. More than 1000 residents and visitors of Elefsina, of all ages, attended this great celebration of the environment, marking the beginning of an important action for both the city and the organization. The aim of 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture is for the Ecoculture Festival to be a trigger for the establishment of a model festival on the environment, ecology and sustainability, in the city of Elefsina.

Freely borrowing elements from the Eleusinian Mysteries, the group exhibition Visions from the Underworld, curated by The Agprognostic Temple, takes the myth and the secret cult around it as a starting point and way of navigating between parallel universes.
