The group exhibition Visions from the Underworld, curated by Agprognostic Temple, that already hosted more than 2,000 visitors, closes on Saturday, April 8. Those who visit the X-Bowling Art Center at exactly 3.33 p.m., will experience the unveiling of the “cube of the unknown”. During a special ceremony, under the direction of the artist McCloud Zicmuse, they will have the opportunity to finally discover the content of the mysterious box located at the centre of the exhibition: a sculpture by the award-winning international Greek artist Theodoros (1931-2018) which is surprisingly reflecting on the Eleusinian Mysteries and the general theme of this exhibition.
Earlier that day, from 11.00 to 13.00, in the exhibition space, ceramist, poet and performer McCloud Zicmuse will hold the workshop Preparing the Ways, aiming to prepare visitors for the procession and the finissage ceremony that will follow, through techniques of playing hand-made instruments, singing exercises and simple choreographies.
Freely borrowing elements from the Eleusinian Mysteries, the group exhibition Visions from the Underworld takes the myth and the secret cult around it as a starting point and way of navigating between parallel universes. It seeks to show the Mysteries’ current-day relevance while opening them up to different voices in a language for the 21st century.
