Elefsina now has its own stamps

The event for the presentation of the collectible series of stamps, entitled “Elefsina, European Capital of Culture 2023”, was successfully held on Saturday, May 27, at the X-Bowling Art Center.

The event was welcomed by the Mayor of Elefsina Argyris Oikonomou, the CEO of 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture Nana Spyropoulou, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hellenic Post Office, Daniel Benardout and the Director of the Corporate Communication & Philately Division of EL.TA. Lazaros Lazaridis.

The Municipality of Elefsina and 2023 Eleusis, in close cooperation with the Hellenic Post Office, put into circulation a commemorative edition of 4 stamps, which depict emblematic landmarks and archaeological treasures of the city. More specifically, these four stamps depict the Caryatid Kistophoros, the Great Eleusinian Relief, the chapel of Agios Zacharias and the Kronos factory.

The main speakers of the event were the Honorary Head of the Department of Prehistoric & Classical Antiquities and Museums of the City of Attica Ms. Kalliopi Papageli, the Doctoral Candidate of EKPA & Professor of Secondary Education Mr. Yiannis Violetis and the Municipal Councilor of Elefsina Mr. Dimitris Liaskos.

At the same time, there was a specially designed EL.TA stand in the event area, where attendees could purchase stamps, as well as stamp their own items with the special philatelic stamp.

As stated by the Mayor of Elefsina, Argyris Oikonomou: “Elefsina is starting a new journey towards its extroversion and prominence, through our collaboration with the Hellenic Post Office. In the framework of the institution of the Capital of Culture and with the immediate and positive response of the Hellenic Post Office, Elefsina, through these small but symbolic stamps, will travel all over the world”.
