Verbal history in museums: Seminar at the Labor and Employment Center of Elefsina

2023 Eleusis Cultural Capital of Europe supports the organization of the laboratory seminar “Verbal history in museums” on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the Elefsina Labor and Employment Center by the Union of Verbal History.

Participants will have the opportunity to approach the challenges that arise during the processes of utilization of oral testimonies in museums and wider exhibition spaces. The character of the workshop is experiential and includes small-scale field research in the city of Elefsina. The seminar is addressed to experts, researchers and students active in the field of museums, culture and public history.

Prerequisite for their participation is the previous research or applied experience in the field of oral history and the practical integration (design or recent completion) with a work of oral history in a museum environment.

Certificates of participation will be issued at the end of the seminar. The maximum number of participants is set at 24 people. You can register until 15/4/2022, by sending the relevant application to the email address rvboes@gmail.com.

Mystery 199 Vangelis Tsakos – Thanos Tsingos

From 17 April to 19 May, 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture presents Mystery 199 Vangelis Tsakos – Thanos Tsingos, an exhibition – tribute to two great artists of Elefsina, the award-winning photographer Vangelis Tsakos and the internationally acclaimed artist Thanos Tsingos at the Old Town Hall of Elefsina. Photographic and painting works, testimonies, publications, exceptional editions and valuable materials, products of extensive research, describe their history and highlight just a small part of the particularly rich but also unique work of the two artists.
