Support for the Dramaturgy sector

An intensive discussion about dramaturgy takes place around the world. Perhaps this is not unrelated to the fact that we are going through an era that is plagued by continuous and deep crises and as a result we have to recount everything without taking anything for granted. For the performing arts in Greece and elsewhere, the intensive re-study of dramaturgy is a rather necessary step.

Supporting artists in the development of their work

The project aims to support Greek performing artists (directors, choreographers, puppeteers, liveartists) in the development of their work, through an extensive process of counseling in dramaturgy by Alexandros Mistriotis. Five artists will be selected to start the mentoring process, through private meetings in order to complete an artistic project. The proposal may concern a small, medium or large scale project, while there is no restriction for its type and form: theatrical, contemporary dance, site-specific works, circus, and so on. The process lasts a year.

Developing participant’s personal artistic language

The main objective of the project is the development of the personal artistic language of the participants through a methodical dialogue. The first phase will be a series of meetings exploring the intention of the projects and the display of possible tools and working methods. Then the meetings will be gradually adapted to the course of the project. Close collaborations will alternate with periods of personal work and re-meetings and feedback. Qualities such as boldness, willingness to dialogue, personal research, adventure and ultimately to shifts seem more than welcome.

Who has priority?

Priority will be given to artists who are now in the process of shaping their personal language, i.e. either emerging artists, or artists with a path who are in transition along the way and are trying to redefine their vocabulary and artistic identity. In any case, the invitation is addressed to current artists and not to students.
