Mystery_62  Nights of Slowness – Discourses about Time

Mystery_62  Nights of Slowness – Discourses about Time returns on Sunday, October 9, at 19.00, at the emblematic courtyard of the church of Agios Nikolaos, within the Archaeological site of Elefsina, always under the light of the full moon. Free admission with pre-reservation here.

The fourth edition of the series of original discussions includes a variety of events, under the directorial curation of Yannis Leontaris: a concert by Mihaly Vig, music composer for Bela Tarr’s films, the screening of the documentary “Orders of Time and Motion: The Shots of Satantango” by Kevine B. Lee on time management in cinema, an ephemeral thematic sculptural installation by students of the Department of Applied and Fine Arts of Florina, curated by Professor Angeliki Avgitidou, and the sound performance “The Voice of the Snail,” inspired by Luis Sepúlveda’s book  The Story of a Snail Who Discovered the Importance of Being Slow, directed by Marilena Katranidou. The evening concludes with a discussion, entitled “Unexpressed Time / The Music of the Universe,” between Stratos Theodosiou, Professor Emeritus of the University of Athens and President of the Union of Greek Physicists and Dimitris Anagnostou, director and PhD researcher of Bela Tarr’s work. Moderated by Yannis Leontaris.

Mystery 14 Human Requiem In Eleusis

World premiere of the film by French filmmaker Stephan Talneau for the homonymous performance in the archaeological site of Elefsina, directed by Jochen Sandig and choreographed by Sasha Waltz, in the presence of its creators.






Mystery 199 Vangelis Tsakos – Thanos Tsingos

From 17 April to 19 May, 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture presents Mystery 199 Vangelis Tsakos – Thanos Tsingos, an exhibition – tribute to two great artists of Elefsina, the award-winning photographer Vangelis Tsakos and the internationally acclaimed artist Thanos Tsingos at the Old Town Hall of Elefsina. Photographic and painting works, testimonies, publications, exceptional editions and valuable materials, products of extensive research, describe their history and highlight just a small part of the particularly rich but also unique work of the two artists.







Mystery 37 Voices of Elefsina

The artistic installation “Voices of Elefsina” by Berlin artist Karl Heinz Jeron, is presented in the context of the project Mystery 37 VOICES OF ELEFSINA of 2023 Eleusis, in collaboration with the team of the Zoetrope Athens art space. A live experience, in the form of a sound walk, which will be inaugurated in Elefsina on 28 April.







Mystery 197 Paper World - A Letter about Elefsina

From April 13th to April 16th, 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture presents an exhibition with artistic creations by Nicoletta Granitsa (aka Magemeli, a name that is inspired by the “alchemical” society of bees), under the title: Mystery 197 Paper World – A Letter to Eleusis, at the Canteen – Art Hub.
