The Open Day of Mystery 7 Free University of Elefsina – IN SITU, the innovative educational program organized by the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture in collaboration with the University of Patras, was held with great success on Monday, January 16, at the West Attica Labor Center.
The crowded and particularly warm audience of Elefsina and the surrounding areas watched interesting presentations by Emeritus Professor of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Maria Efthymiou on the topic “On the occasion of the cults of Eleusis: religions as a vehicle of conversation with earthly reality and the hereafter”, the researcher, Aikaterini Stefi on the topic “Julia & Alexander N. Diomedes Botanic Garden”: how nature can be highlighted and protected” and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Patras, Panagiotis Dimopoulos on the topic “The natural capital and the protected areas of Greece: coexistence of management and development dimension”. Μatters regarding registrations, courses and attendance were presented by the Professor of Environmental Microbiology, University of West Attica, Athina Mavridou, while the meeting was coordinated by Apostolos Vantarakis, Professor of Public Health, University of Patras School of Medicine.

The Mystery 7 Free University of Elefsina – IN SITU is structured in two modules around the major thematic axes of “Environment – Healthcare” and “Culture – Cultural Policy,”. After some joint introductory courses, the two modules “Culture – Cultural Policy” and “Environment – Healthcare” will be conducted as independent educational units and will meet in joint educational activities. The courses will be held in two semesters of three months, in spring and autumn.
The introductory courses start on March 20 and will be held every Monday at 17:30-21:30, with arrival time 17:15 at the Labor Center of Elefsina or in situ outside spaces around the city. The aim of the institution is to cultivate free thinking and provide high-level scientific knowledge to every participant regardless of age, nationality and educational level through a unique learning experience. Participants upon completion of the course and after evaluation will receive a certificate of attendance.
REGISTRATIONS PROCESS
After the Open Day of the Mystery 7 Free University of Elefsina – IN SITU, registrations have begun and will last until March 15. Those interested can complete the online registration application or complete the hardcopy registration application by submitting a photocopy of their identity card and a short CV at the Secretariat of 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture, during its opening hours (Laskou 8 & Pangalou, 1st floor, 9.00-17.00).

The maximum number of participants is 100 people, while priority will be given to residents of Elefsina and the wider area.
