A special film for children, Andrew Stanton’s “Wall-Ε” in a special dubbed screening with free admission, will be displayed on Saturday, July 9, at the the Old Railway Station of Elefsina, as part of the Mystery 23_Cine-Eleusis: IN SITU action realities. The first Documentary Festival of Elefsina and the wider region, held in collaboration with the Athens International Film Festival.

There are not a few films that study the dependence of the human species on the rapidly evolving technology – its creation, to ask about its possible consequences in its daily life, but also about whether it is capable, depending on its use, of redeem or condemn it. In “Wall-E” a mechanical boy will need to rebel against his creators in order to define his own freedom.

“Wall-E” is a great timeless film that transcends the boundaries of the film genre to which it belongs, redefining the democracy of the art of cinema. Along the way, it becomes a big-hearted, fast-paced extravaganza for kids from 5 to 105 years old.

A few words about Mystery 23_Cine Eleusis: IN SITU realities

Mystery 23_Cine Eleusis: IN SITU realities is inspired by the unique characteristics of Elefsina as an emblematic historical site and a modern industrial urban landscape, and focuses on the thematic axes of 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture regarding the connection of humans with society and the environment. In Elefsina, in this place of contrasts, where, today, the inevitable reflections of the ancient and industrial past and the human mosaic of modern history meet the necessary visions for a more ecological future, a persistent dialogue is cultivated. And it is these inherent contrasts—overt and hidden—in its body that constantly invite and inspire every cinematic gaze that dares to turn on the city.

The Festival is taking place this summer as a pilot and with free admission, in collaboration with the Athens International Film Festival.
