Athina Pavlidou 

Head of Cultural Training & European Programmes

Athina Pavlidou is a museologist and a cultural manager with international experience. She has graduated from the Department of Classics of the School of Philology-Faculty of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and she holds a master degree from the Interuniversity Postgraduate Programme “Museology-Cultural Management” (AUTH & UoWM). She has worked at museums and cultural institutions in the USA (J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles), in Europe (Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice) and in Greece (Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest, Railway Museum of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki Aristotle Natural History Museum, Onassis Cultural Centre) and has collaborated with private companies (Peripatos Cultural Company) and educational institutions (AUTH, British Council, Centre for the Greek Language). Her main duties involved the development, management, promotion, implementation and evaluation of educational programs and various activities, events and cultural projects for the public (lectures, art talks and classes, thematic tours, conferences, intensive workshops, seminars, performance nights, youth and community programs, museum overnights e.t.c.) the training of docents, facilitators, gallery teachers and volunteers, as well as the execution of audience development, community engagement and communication strategy plans. She has also managed Eu funded programs (Horizon 2020, Erasmus+). She is currently a Phd candidate at the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of Aegean. Her research interests include History, Literature, Public Archaeology, History of Art and Exhibition Curating, Museum Education, Cultural Management, Audience Development, Community Engagement, Cultural Tourism and in general the role of museums and cultural institutions and projects in modern society.
