“The moving image as a starting point for actions with social impact”
The documentary as an occasion for alternative ways of producing films and artworks. The workshop is about the artistic practice applied in the Greekies project, where the moving image in all phases of its design, production, and distribution functions as a starting point and occasion for public events, discussions, and workshops with communities on key social and environmental issues. During this process a dynamic interaction is created with the participating artists, their protagonists, and their teams, who will actively contribute to the workshop. The workshop will feature filmed excerpts from the shooting, the live actions, and screenings of the project.

“Reality as a mystery”
Through examples of contemporary and classic documentaries and excerpts from her own works, the director refers to observational documentary as a process of excavation of the other and the self. As she suggests, the making of such a documentary shares much in common with a healing process, and hence can have a therapeutic effect. Reality is not perceived as something visible, but as a shadow: viewers and participants are invited to reveal it together anew, paying attention to the unseen, the invisible and the enigmatic.
