Mystery 32 Open Eleusis is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

After the great success of the first two series of screenings, from April 12th to 14th, the 2023 Eleusis Cultural Capital of Europe presents at Cultural Center – Cine Eleusis the third and final three-day event of the Mystery 176 Cinema Days project. This includes screenings of documentaries related to its artistic program, the city, as well as contemporary reflections on crucial and timeless issues. Always with a hidden ambition to transform Eleusis into a landmark of a unique cinematic experience.

In more detail, on April 12th and 13th, “Off-Centered Realities” creatively invade Cine Eleusis with an unpredictable cinematic tribute curated by the Greek Documentary Association. This pilot initiative by the GDA and Doc Lab in the historic cinema, now operating as a multifunctional cultural center, serves as the starting point for a creative dialogue between filmmakers and the residents of Eleusis, exploring a pivotal and often “invisible” thematic spectrum. This selection comprises four significant documentary films featuring heroes, stories, and realities that circulate among us unseen yet simultaneously vital and critical.

On Sunday, April 14th, the film “Persephone” premieres, rolling out the red carpet to close the “Mystery 176 Cinema Days” in the memory of a unique event that “ran through” the entire city of Eleusis. Concurrently, two screenings for children and young adults will take place in collaboration with the International Documentary Festival for Children and Youth, KinderDocs. Additionally, the results of educational workshops carried out within the framework of the 2023 Eleusis program, “Mystery 65 REFRAME Eleusis” in collaboration with the Hellenic Centre for Photography, “Mystery 156 Stories for Eleusis” in collaboration with Exile Room, “Mystery 26 My Eleusis: Glances at the City” in collaboration with the Children’s and Youth International Film Festival of Athens, “Mystery 32 Open Eleusis – One Documentary Film Many Stories” in collaboration with the Research Center  for the Humanities, and “Mystery 171 Building Utopia” in collaboration with the Greek Children’s Museum and the Children Support Center of Elefsis – Friendly Nest, will be presented.
