The Aeschylia Festival 2024, one of the most consistent and long-standing festivals in Greece, organized by the Municipality of Elefsina in collaboration with the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture, is celebrating its 49th year. Elefsina, a modern city with a rich archaeological, mythological, and industrial past, is at the heart of culture and creativity, hosting numerous events that have enhanced the city’s outward-looking perspective, left a valuable legacy, and strengthened its presence on the international cultural map.

This year’s event includes theatrical performances, concerts, film screenings, and cultural proposals that highlight contemporary expression and creativity. The events will primarily take place at the iconic Old Oil Mill of Elefsina, set against the backdrop of Elefsina’s beach, a venue that has been inextricably linked with this historic festival for years.

The thematic axis People | Society focuses on inclusion, the way that European society is shaped and, the ways in which we interact with each other, through the three themes/notions “Europe of Citizens”, “Europe, Daughter of Phoenix” and “Human Mysteries”.
