Artworks at public space

During the program of 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture, many artistic works were created, which have remained in the public space and adorn the city of Elefsina.

A public sculptural intervention that proposes a poetic interpretation of the underwater habitats inspired by the architecture of oysters.
An empty, deserted and abandoned space was transformed into a fertile garden. In this space, through activations/performances, a revival of the narrative of ancient Eleusis and ancient Greece will be attempted, as well as their interconnection with the recent and modern history of the city.
Remains of an all-day festival that incorporate intense patterns to a geometric composition and protagonist figures of Mystery 69 Greekies.
The Epiphany in-situ installation is set on an Elefsina seafront pier – a place associated with arrival, waiting, and departure.
From July 7 to September 30, 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture presented the international group exhibition Mystery 3 Elefsina Mon Amour: In Search of the Third Paradise, curated by Katerina Gregos – Artistic Director of ΕΜΣΤ | Τhe National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens
On 4 February 2023, during the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture, from the seabed of the Gulf of Elefsina − this peculiar “Underworld” of the city of Mysteries − a whale rose to the surface and then into the air, casting light to the Upper World in the darkness of the winter.
Andreas Lolis, awakening the memory, overturning the images and with respect for the space, lets the viewer experience his own excavation with two of his works in different parts of the city.

3rd New Eleusis Symposion | Re-Enchanting the World

How can we reconnect with the wonder of everyday life?
Can myth and poetry engage in dialogue with science?
Can work become a source of meaning and connection?
Is it possible to reimagine our neighbourhoods, food, and economy—as acts of care?
And ultimately, what does it mean to “re-enchant the world”?
