Iris, the first modern varnish and paint industry in Greece, was founded in 1925. Its gratest day is recorded around the period 1925-1950, while its operation was terminated around the end of 1970. The chimney and the two oldest buildings of the factory have been marked preserved newer monuments, as they are representative examples of industrial architecture of the interwar period.
After its inclusion in the infrastructure development program of 2023 Eleusis, IRIS factory, the first varnish and paint industry in Greece, almost 100 years after its foundation, in cooperation with the owner organization OAED and the Municipality of Elefsina, is being transformed into a modern cultural space with multiple possibilities, aiming to be a legacy for the city.
