Mystery 37 Voices of Elefsina

The artistic installation “Voices of Elefsina” by Berlin artist Karl Heinz Jeron, is presented in the context of the project Mystery 37 VOICES OF ELEFSINA of 2023 Eleusis, in collaboration with the team of the Zoetrope Athens art space. A live experience, in the form of a sound walk, which will be inaugurated in Elefsina on 28 April.

Through a route that starts from the coastal front of the city and ends at the Old Railway Station, voices of the residents of Elefsina convey experiences from the history and the present of the city. Ten public light poles are transformed into audio nodes relaying audio content, available via QR code 24 hours a day. By following a map, either online or printed, which can be obtained from the Info Point at the Old Town Hall of the city, visitors and residents will be able to tune into the different stories of each node by scanning the QR codes via their mobile phones. The installation is open to the public 24 hours a day.
On the opening day, Sunday 28 April, at 18:00, there will be a guided tour and an audio walk for a group of people led by Karl Heinz Jeron with meeting point the Canteen Art Hub on the city’s seafront. After the end of the route, a small treat will follow at the Old Railway Station, where the studio of the community radio station Mystery 37 VOICES OF ELEFSINA (voicesofelefsina.eu) is located.

Α few words about Karl Heinz Jeron

Karl Heinz Jeron was born in Memmingen, Germany in 1962. He lives and works in Berlin Germany and Athens Greece. His art deals with every day culture, media perception and information processing. Jeron’s works span from the singing and dancing robot Sim Gishel, to compositions for electrified rotten vegetables and audio tour guides in onshore wind farms. Recent exhibitions, events and collaborations include Athens Digital Arts Festival, ZKM Karlsruhe, Ars Electronica Linz, Documenta X, ICA London, Walker Art Museum Minneapolis, Berlinischen Galerie Berlin and the Museum of Modern Art San Francisco.
