Taking the speculation that surrounds these extraordinary pagan rites as a starting point, the residency will be completed with the exhibitions of five new commissions by the resident artists and five existing works by their mentor “initiators,” all installed inside the archaeological site, seeking to reinterpret the meaning of such notions as initiation and secrecy today.

Transition to a Climate Neutral Future

In May 2023, students from seven European countries gathered in Elefsina to take part in a unique conference, titled Mystery 149 Pupil Conference on the Transition to a Climate Neutral Future, in which they were introduced to processes of participatory consultation and the experience of environmental walks. This October they return to present the results of their research.

An epiphany is an emergence (a coming into view, or a visible surface), as when the materiality of an object is revealed or, metaphorically speaking and in accordance with some doctrines, when there is some manifestation of the divine.
