With great success and in an atmosphere of joy but also of deep emotion, the opening of the Mystery 99 The Ark, an ark of eternal youth, a cultural space created for the city of Elefsina by the Belgian collective TimeCircus, took place on Sunday, June 18.
The celebration started in the morning with food, music, dj sets, performances, circus shows, pop-up events and many surprises and lasted until the early hours of Monday. At the official opening, greetings were given by Michael Marmarinos, general artistic director of 2023 Eleusis, Georgia Voudouri, director of Cultural Development and project coordinator, Bram Soli from the TimeCircus team and Fjorida Cenaj from the Cultterra team, in the presence of representatives of the Embassy of Belgium, guests and collaborators from all over the world and – of course – residents of Elefsina who have warmly embraced the project.
TimeCircus started from Antwerp in May 2022, traveled 3,000 kilometers to Eleusis in the largest pilgrimage in the city’s history, they envisioned and created ARKOPOLIS, a place of meeting, collaboration, inclusion, and free creation that will be left as a legacy for the city. A space that aims to bring young people of all ages closer, a space that proves that culture is an integral part of Elefsina, of life itself.
But all this was only the beginning… The Mystery 99 The Ark did not end with its opening. It is an ongoing project that still requires a lot of work and needs the participation of the residents of Elefsina, the participation of all of us…
