With the screening of the film “A voice in the night” by Christos Tolis, Olga Laskaratou and Ari Lykhnaras, on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 20:30, at the Old Railway Station, Mystery 37 Voices of Elefsina, inaugurates “Open Thursdays”, a series of meetings with screenings, speeches, and discussions with a thematic focus on the medium of radio.
The film focuses on how the dominance of the playlist model fundamentally changed the character of the medium and, with it, the role of the radio producer and his relationship with listeners. Personalities from the entire spectrum of Greek music speak on the subject, including Dimitra Galani, Foivos Delivorias, Themis Karamouratidis, Natassa Bofiliou, Yiannis Petridis and others. Essentially, this is the first documentary recording of the results brought by the new radio model in the way of listening but also in the transmission of music and song information.
After the screening, there will be a discussion with the audience in the presence of the film’s creators Christos Tolis and Olga Laskaratou.
Mystery 37 Voices of Elefsina is an artistic community project, focusing on radio broadcasting. Its goal is to create a local internet radio station that will be owned, powered and operated by the community of Elefsina. Part of the project is also a radio artistic installation, which will take the form of a radio walk in public spaces of the city.
Over seventy residents of Elefsina have already signed up for the project, while on Friday May 15, the first meeting of the group took place. In the months of May and June, the first round of artistic-educational workshops will follow, which will introduce the participants to the world of sound and radio production.
