The 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture in collaboration with The New Raw team organizes from May 10 to July 3, 2022, the Mystery 64_Print Your City, a workshop dedicated to the principles of Circular Economy and Recycling.
Print Your City explores the relationship between 3D printing and plastic recycling, through the creation of original objects. It involves the creation and operation of a Plastic Recycling Laboratory, which will include machinery for separating and processing plastic and a robotic 3D printing arm. In addition, within the workshop, the project team will design and implement an Experience Center, i.e. an information space on the transition from recycling to 3D printing.
Visitors to the workshop have the opportunity to see up close how plastic waste can be transformed into a new raw material and gain a second or even a third life, using new technologies, such as 3D Printing. At the same time, they have the opportunity to see up close a 3D printing printer that prints live objects from recycled plastic. These items are useful and acquire a new life cycle, as they will be placed in the city of Elefsina, as part of the Print Your City.
The Laboratory takes place within the industrial facility of TITAN, and specifically in EΛΕVΣΙΣ INNOVATION LAB by 2023 ELEUSIS, constituting the first action of the applied innovation theme entitled Fabricated Worlds. The space is a courtesy of TITAN. As part of the action, free educational programs are implemented for children with emphasis on the circular economy, the environment, co-creation and New Technologies. The entrance is free.
What we recycle:
Plastic waste – washed and clean, so that it can be treated – type PP (5) – Polypropylene and HDPE (2) – Polyethylene (High Density). PP is found in yogurt and shampoo packaging, while HDPE is mainly used for bottle caps. An easy way to separate them is from the number mentioned on the plastic packaging: PP (5) and HDPE (2).
So we are looking for these signals:
Plastics are collected:
In the brown buckets with the special marking at the Old Railway Station of Elefsina and outside the facilities of the TITAN factory (Sotiriou Gioka and Tzaferis).
Print Your City explores the relationship between 3D printing and plastic recycling, through the creation of original objects. It is the brainchild of The New Raw team, a creative Research & Design office founded in 2015 in Rotterdam, by architects Fotini Setaki and Pano Sakka. The Print Your City program has been implemented in the past in Amsterdam and Thessaloniki.

Environment
The second axis focuses on the Environment, sustainability and wellbeing, seeking new ways to take ownership of the city, and focusing on the need to redefine our relationship with nature and the environment as a prerequisite for sustainable development. The thematic axis Environment comprises the three themes/notions of “Demeter-Mother Earth”, “Persephone” and “Ecoculture Festival”, corresponding to significant features of the relationship between human beings and the environment.
