European wind blew through our region! 35 young people from eight European countries participated in a knowledge, experiences and cultural elements exchange programme in the neighbouring city of Megara within the European programme Erasmus+, through which they creatively support Eleusis’ bid for European Capital of Culture 2021.
The educational project ‘Meet the Utility of ERASMOBILITY’ was carried out by the youth organisation ‘Youth Horizons’ on 23-30 October. This training course is based on European Union’s founding values and their promotion to the participants (encouraging active participation, social inclusion, solidarity, respect for diversity, racial discrimination, etc.). This is an opportunity for detailed information on the educational opportunities offered by the world of Erasmus+ to youth (youth exchanges, voluntary activities, practical training, scholarships, etc.), in order to come into contact with their European identity, motivate and motivate those around them to actively participate and take initiatives at local, national and international level. It is a supporting and developing action of ‘youth working’ as well as of non-formal education in Greece.
Among the actions of the programme, participants from Spain, Italy, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Lithuania and Greece expressed their ideas and thoughts, through creating their own placemat within the project ‘Eleusis Mosaic’. They shared moments of pleasant co-creation and gave a broader multicultural touch to the composition of the artistic mosaic of Eleusis 2021.
The youth organisation ‘Youth Horizons’ operates within the Erasmus +, enables people from all over Greece to participate in activities abroad and discover the opportunities and possibilities offered by the European world in the fields of education, training, youth and sports. Through their co-existence with people from different cultures, the programme’s participants share ideas, thoughts, experiences and develop the way they think and act in our society. Thereby expanding their intellectual and experiential horizons … their ‘Youth Horizons’!
