With great interest and participation from the people of Elefsina and the radio producers of Voices of Elefsina, a hands-on workshop took place on Sunday 16 March, at the Old Town Hall of Elefsina, led by filmmaker and radio director (on the Greek National Radio’s Third Program), Menelaos Karamaghiolis.
Mr. Karamaghiolis shared with the participants the importance of radio as a crucial, relevant, and interventive means of social interaction, stories from his personal journey, and his artistic practice in both radio and cinema. He discussed with the radio producers alternative, interventive, flexible, unpredictable, and optimal ways and methodologies for developing the programming and activities of the community online radio station.
At the same time, through screen projections, the participants had the opportunity to recall actions carried out by him and the Døcumatism team in Eleusis, Aspropyrgos, the NATO Avenue, and the entire Thriasio area as part of the official program of 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture. These included “Mystery 69 Greekies,” a multi-layered artistic and social program that was in constant dialogue with the city, its inhabitants, and those who feel “stray” through film screenings, music-dance events, and public dialogues with unpredictable encounters and routes.
