The exciting intercultural journey of “Meeting the Odyssey” continues its journey!
More specifically, within the Aeschylia Festival “Meeting the Odyssey” will present two performances, the “Memories for Life” and “landing_an odyssey” in the Old Oil Mill Factory and the Instant performance “Routes on Roots” by OSMOSIS group directed by Euripides Laskaridis in collaboration with Aspasia-Maria Alexiou and the Association of Asia Minor in Eleusis.
On June 29 at 22:00, the group “Meeting the Odyssey” will present “Memories for Life”, a physical multilingual performance about the past and the present, the old and the young. In “Memories for Life” seven people relive the journey of their lives and try to tell their personal stories which have defined themselves in an environment where memories, reality and dreams are equal. The show is inspired by Homer’s Odyssey and the world as it is today, embodied by a set of young European actors and directed by Maria Lundström, artistic director of Viirus Theatre.
On June 30 and July 2-3, at 22:00, the group of “Meeting the Odyssey”, will present for the first time in Greece the performance “landing_an odyssey”.
Taking in consideration the concept of ‘return’ the performers will highlight the other side of “nostos”, nostalgia – the desire to reveal what is always leading to new meetings, conflicts and tragedies. In this sense, the “drop-off” or “landing”, especially after a long absence, it opens the way for a different look, towards an unknown dimension. Directed by Michele Losi and Peter Kirk, the show asks “are we confident that we want to go back to Ithaca?”.
Returning to Eleusis, “Meeting the Odyssey” meets OSMOSIS group and the Association of Asia Minor in Eleusis, which are creating an instant performance, opening a dialogue on the issues of refugees and uprooting.
So, Euripides Laskaridis and OSMOSIS group settled down in Eleusis for 10 days. Through their creative meetings with the Association of Asia Minor in Eleusis, they met numerous residents of the Settlement, their stories, their homes. All this became the material for this experiential promenade, which will take place only once on Tuesday June 28 at 19:45, starting from the Museum of Asia Minor in Eleusis and with the participation of the residents of the Settlement.
