The 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture and the experimental group of dancers and acrobats “Ki omOs Kineitai” hold the first workshop of contemporary circus in Eleusis for professionals and amateurs, children and adults. Participation in the workshop is free.
The workshop includes lessons of contemporary dance and acrobatics by the choreographer Christina Sougioultzi and the dancers Nondas Damopoulos and Ileana Pappa and is addressed to residents of Elefsina, as well as dancers and acrobats who are interested in improving their knowledge of contemporary dance and acrobatics. Children aged 11-18 years old and adults over 18 years old, with or without previous dance training and experience in sports activities are welcome to participate. Participants will be divided into two categories: children (11-15) and teenagers – adults (16 and over). The aim of the workshop is to create an experiential interaction between the people of Elefsina of all ages and the modern circus, in order to come together to redesign the performance «The Higgs Particle» and its representation, with the participation of the city’s residents.

Program:
Part A:
a) Ground acrobatics, individual movements/stands on the floor. Preparing the body to be in high tension areas and to trust non ”normal” modes of operation, Flow of Acrobatic routes.
b) Smoothing out the linearity of the exercise into organic forms, accessible by the body, in different phases based on the participants’ abilities.
c) Co-ordination and collaboration of moving bodies, acrobatics in duets and trios.
Part Β:
kinesthetic combinations, dance language in terms of the relationship between movement and music, structural materials of the lesson.
Part C:
stage design of the above elements. Open to the public presentation of the workshop.
