In an atmosphere full of joy and happiness, the presentation of the mini-documentary series “One land, many lands”, organized by the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture with the support of the Municipality of Elefsina, was held on Thursday 12 December at the crowded Cine Eleusis, in the presence of the Associations of Elefsina. The people who were at the Cine Eleusis watched with interest the mini documentaries that unfold the actions and dynamics of the Associations of the city, warmly applauded all the efforts and at the end enjoyed the treat with wine and food that concluded the event.
A few words about the project
The series One Place, Many Places is the result of research and documentation of the collective experiences of people who have shaped the identity of Elefsina through traditions and their personal journeys. Among them are the stories of people who once left their homeland and united their lives to create a new place from scratch. Each association represents a unique community that completes the multifaceted mosaic of the city. The Associations of Elefsina are a valuable legacy with a long history and deep roots in the social life of the city. They are the bearers of a continuous search for the present and the future.
Associations featured in the documentary series include: The Peloponnesian Association of Elefsina, the Brotherhood of Romaniotes of Lakka Souli of Elefsina, the Association of Asia Minor Refugees of Elefsina, the Thessalian Association of the Thriasian Plain, the Symian Association of Elefsina, the Panepirotic Association of Elefsina, the Cultural Educational Association of Elefsina-Magoula, the Association of Pontians of Elefsina Nea Trapezounta, the Day Care Center All of Us, the Association of Pontians of Magoula, the Hellenic Mountaineering Club of Elefsina, the Orpheus Music Club, the Folklore Association Adracthi, the Photographic Club of Elefsina, the Elefsina Art Workshop, the Evrynomi Disabled Association, the Cretan Union of Elefsina The Great Island, the Elefsina Film Club, the Epirote Association of the Thriasian Plain, the Magoula Women’s Association, the Volunteers of the Thriasian Plain, the Chian Union Saint Markella, and the 1st Scout System of Elefsina.
