Yannis Arvanitis studied Architecture (Department of Architecture, University of Thessaly) and Curating (MFA Curating, Goldsmiths, University of London). He curated a series of arduino design objects and a series of shows. He worked for the exhibition and curatorial programme of Schwarz Foundation, Art Space Pythagorion (Samos 2012-2015) and for the research initiative Curating Architecture, Goldsmith (London 2006-2008). He has coordinated the production of interdisciplinary projects such as Multidomes, Benaki Museum (Athens 2012) and The Ark, Old Seeds for New Cultures, 12th International Architecture Exhibition of the Biennale di Venezia, Benaki Museum (Athens 2011) while has worked for the research programme Curating Architecture, Goldsmiths, University of London / The Showroom (London 2008) and the project Paradigmata –19th International Architecture Exhibition of the Biennale di Venezia (Venice 2004).
He has written for art journals and catalogues including Destroy Athens -1st Athens Biennale (2007) and co- edited A Fine Red Line – A Curatorial Miscellany (IM press, London 2008). He co-founded the digital magazine Floater Magazine, www.floatermagazine.com and IM projects curatorial collective. He taught in undergraduate and postgraduate workshops in Department of Architecture, University of Thessaly. He designed exhibitions including 1821 digital archive, Benaki Museum (Athens 2021), Still standing here tomorrow, Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (Athens 2019), Stefanos Lazaridis: Cynical Romantic, Stavros Niarchos foundation Cultural Center (Athens 2018), and architectural projects as well as scenography for theatre and music performances at National Theatre of Greece, Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Odeon of Herodes Atticus, The Athens Concert Hall, Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center and elsewhere.
He led the technical direction of documenta 14 in Athens (2015-2017) and was Deputy head of production and technical department – Architectural coordinator of documenta fifteen (Kassel 2021-2022) as well as Αssociate curator of Loukia Alavanou’s work On The Way To Colonus, Greek Pavilion – 59th International Art Exhibition of the Biennale di Venezia (2022).
