On Monday 5 May at 19:30, the official ceremony celebrating the inclusion of the custom of “Panagia Mesosporitissa” in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity will take place at the Old Oil Mill Factory of Elefsina. This international recognition affirms the uniqueness and global value of Elefsina’s folk tradition. It marks a significant milestone for the cultural identity of the city and the wider region, ensuring the preservation and transmission of this custom to future generations, under the auspices of one of the world’s foremost cultural institutions. The ceremony will be held in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, and is organized by the Folklore Association of Elefsina “To Adrachti”, with the support of 2023 Eleusis and the Municipality of Elefsina.
