Eleusis 2021 invites 3 citizens of Eleusis to participate in the ECoC’s Neighbours’ Day that is hosted for the first time in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands from 25th May until 27th May 2018. These three Eleusinians will have the opportunity to travel in Leeuwarden, this year’s European Capital of Culture (along with Valletta, Malta), share experiences and work together with other Europeans.
Inspired by the Neighbours’ Day, the annual celebration of communities that encourages people to connect with their neighbours through local activities, the ECoC’s Neighbours’ Day aims at connecting European residents, strengthening social bounds and supporting their active integration.
By inviting people that live in former, current and future ECoCs to Leeuwarden, that is the current European Capital of Culture, the European citizens will have the chance to get closer to a current ECoC, share experiences with residents of other European Countries, work together on solving issues, developing projects or even developing shared projects.
The ECoC’s Neighbours’ Day is especially targeted to citizens that live in former, current and future ECoCs, who work or want to work on community projects in their own neighbourhoods or in their own local communities.
Accommodation
The residents of Eleusis will be accommodated in Leeuwarden host families. The hosts already work on community projects in collaboration with Leeuwarden 2018, so they will be working together for the weekend. This is a nice way to get to know each other a bit better, but also experience the Dutch/Frisian way of life.
Who can take part?
Anyone that lives in Eleusis, is over 18 years old and speaks English.
Which costs are covered?
The travel costs, the local transports, the accommodation and the meals of the participants will be covered.

You can fill in the form you can find here until 16th March 2018, 12 a.m. The form can be then submitted online or you can download it and bring it to our offices (Municipality of Eleusis – 2nd floor, Chatzidaki 41 str., 19200 Eleusis).
