The Βaumstrasse / The Road with the Trees cooperates with the Municipality of Elefsina for the establishing of the institution of the Attiko School, and they present at the Old Olive Mill, from the 1st to the 10th of July, the Summer School, which lasts 10 days and includes parallel events of Greek and foreign artists and instructors.

We would like to welcome you to the 5th Attiko School of Ancient Greek Drama! The Summer School is going to take place from 1st to 10th July, at the Old Olive Mill of the Municipality of Elefsina. The activities of the 5th Attiko School are focused on the great tragedian Sophocles.
As organisers and participants of the Attiko School of Ancient Greek Drama, we are very pleased to announce the participation of our School in the International Network of Ancient Drama of the Greek Ministry of Culture. Our participation in this network occurs as a reward for the sustained efforts of the professors, the students and the volunteers of the Attiko School towards the promotion and the research of ancient drama. This participation, also, marks the drawing up of a new cycle of activities for the study of ancient Greek texts, as well as for their theatrical rendering.
In the framework of the International Network, the following entities, which are going to collaborate in the context of educational programmes and artistic activities towards the promotion of the ancient drama and its significance, are going to sign a three-year programming agreement with the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports: the National Theatre of Greece (in collaboration with the European Cultural Centre of Delphi), the National Theatre of Northern Greece, the Athens Festival along with the “Epidaurus Lyceum”, and the Attiko School of Ancient Greek Drama of Elefsina.
The Attiko School, from this year on, is included in the framework of the activities of Elefsina-European Capital of Culture 2021. Furthermore, from this year on, our collaboration with the International Performing Arts Festival Between the Seas, headquartered in New York, has begun.
The School is going to host 50 students in its intensive summer programme, in the context of which professors from Greece and abroad are going to teach. Moreover, in August 2017 the group is going to present, in the framework of the Aeschylia Festival, the tragedy Philoctetes, in a new translation, with the participation of renowned actors.
