‘ELEUSIS 2021’, the municipal single-member company- European Capital of Culture, pending the official finalization to transfer the celebration of the year included in its title to the year 2023, has decided to expand their scope of partnership strengthening thus collaboration with key partners of the local society with the aim to achieve proper organization of events to be held both at an international and national level and to promote the cultural and industrial heritage of Elefsina.
Α Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Elefsina Port Authority S.A. and ‘ELEUSIS 2021’, the Municipal Single-member Company European Capital of Culture, upon relevant approval by the Board of Directors of Elefsina Port Authority S.A., to grant terrestrial areas inside the port area with the aim to host events that will be held to celebrate Elefsina European Capital of Culture. This Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Mr. Apostolos Kamarinakis, Managing Director at Elefsina Port Authority S.A. and Ms. Maria Panagydes, CEO at ‘ELEUSIS 2021’ on Tuesday, 8 December 2020 at the Organisation’s premises in Elefsina.
The aforementioned Memorandum of Cooperation encompasses all joint actions taken by both partners to host events, as part of the Artistic Programme of Elefsina European Capital of Culture, to be held in specific terrestrial areas inside the port area with the aim to promote the cultural heritage and natural environment of the coastal zone of Elefsina, a fact that will contribute to the successful implementation of ‘ELEUSIS 2021’ National Programme.
The above-mentioned Memorandum encompasses, among others, the following:
- Cooperation on issues related to hosting services and maritime transports providing for floating spaces (tourist vessels, cruise ships etc.) to accommodate staff, guests or other people;
- Maritime transport connectivity between Elefsina and Piraeus Port,
- Shipping routes in the city’s coastal front.
The aforementioned spaces shall be available provided that they are not intended to host other port activities and should all other port functions be carried out properly.
