KEY POINTS IN THE HISTORY OF HELLENISM
CINE ELEUSIS
2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture in cooperation with the World Human Forum and the support of the Municipality of Elefsina presents the lecture of historian Maria Efthymiou entitled “Key Points in the History of Hellenism” which will take place on Wednesday 4 December at 17:30 at the Cine Eleusis. A lecture dedicated to the long course of Hellenism, from the Mycenaean period to the modern era, highlighting its timeless presence, its cultural influence and the historical conquests that shaped its identity.
Ex Nihilo, an international group of dancers and interdisciplinary artists will visit Elefsina from 8 to 13 December as part of their work in progress project entitled “L’Envers d’ici”. The aim of the visit, which is supported by 2023 Eleusis, is to collect video and photographic material from unique sites in the city, which will form a body of sites to be incorporated into the repertoire of images for future presentations of the project.

ONE LAND, MANY LANDS | THE SCREENING
CINE ELEUSIS
2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture presents, on Thursday 12 December at 17:30 at Cine Eleusis the documentary series One Land, Many Lands, produced by elc productions, in the presence of the Associations of Elefsina. 25 mini-documentaries on places, history, memory, journeys, and life. A systematic effort to showcase the cultural diversity of the Associations of the town, through recorded history, expectations, and human memories.

HUMAN IMPRINTS
CINE ELEUSIS
The documentary screening series entitled “Human Imprints” concludes its successful cycle on 2 and 16 December at Cine Eleusis. Focused on ecology, archaeology, and human geography, these feature-length documentaries illuminate the cultural life of the city with screenings held in the presence of the filmmakers. A collaboration between 2023 Eleusis and the nonprofit organization “ELEFSINA – ARTS AND CULTURE”.
Mystery 59 U(R)TOPIAS Academy of Choreography, under the artistic direction of Patricia Apergi in collaboration with Aerites Dance Company, began its fourth year in Elefsina with great momentum. In December the second intensive week of workshops will take place, where participating choreographers will attend seminars with guest artists. The 10-day residencies in Elefsina continues,an opportunity provided by the Academy for deeper exploration of their choreographic work, but mainly an opportunity to connect more with the city, to get in touch with its inhabitants and to get to know its everyday life.
2023 Eleuis supports the new initiative of the group “En Dynamei” and OKAY Initiative Space, entitled “I Got It Tho”, a collective art exhibition presented in December in Athens. The project aims to explore issues of inclusivity, diversity and creative expression with the participation of people with and without disabilities, the wider public, members of En δυνάμει and organisations working with social minorities. The project is developed in three phases – stages with workshops in which the structures of Elefsina “Evrynomi” Day Care Centre for People with Mental Retardation and Day Care Centre “All of us” for People with Special Needs participate.

OPEN STATION – OPEN COMMUNITY
OLD RAILWAY STATION OF ELEFSINA
The Open Station – Open Community project, presented by Cultterra at the Old Railway Station of Elefsina in autumn, will continue in December with new events every Thursday at 19:00. Unique gatherings with music, films, improvisations, collective cooking, and artistic workshops come together to transform the space into a vibrant hub of culture, creativity, and interaction. At the same time, the team continues its broadcast entitled “Cultterra Frequency” and its collaboration with Mystery 37 Voices of Elefsina, the community internet radio of the city. Coming soon are Mystery 15 The Open Museum, a multi-level exhibition by the distinguished visual artist and Emeritus Professor of the School of Architecture of the NTUA Vana Xenou and Mystery 30 Invisible Map, a manifesto for the “micro-history” of a place, for the city of Elefsina, through personal narratives, unpublished archival material, personal archives and testimonies. The digital application THE INVISIBLE MAP, which accompanies and contains the project, invites residents and visitors of Elefsina to tour the city by discovering it through a living, intangible, digital museum of memory, a modern and asynchronous tour. At the same time, the digital application presents the Mystery 45 Persephone Walks, a site-specific audio-walk of multiple narrative voices and soundscapes, revealing invisible aspects of the city through a pre-planned path.
