2023 Eleusis and representatives of the Elefsina City Council attended the 13th Culture Next Conference, held from 16 to 18 October, 2024, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The Eleusis delegation included Isavella-Dimitra Karouti, Director of Cultural Training, Angeliki Lampiri, Culture Next Network Board Member and former Director of Cultural Training at Eleusis 2023, Pavlos Koukounarakis, Deputy Mayor of Technical Services and Urban Planning of Elefsina Municipality, and Evangelia Veizou, Elefsina City Councilor. These representatives participated in the full conference agenda, representing the city of Elefsina.
The 13th Culture Next Conference gathered representatives from 50 European cities—both members and non-members of the Culture Next Network—as well as major cultural networks, European Commission representatives, and local artists and cultural organizations from Cluj-Napoca. This assembly fostered constructive dialogue on the impact of culture, sustainable development, and social transformation in urban areas.
Elefsina’s representatives engaged in various sessions, including talks and open dialogues on integrating Culture as one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and in-depth discussions on specific topics relevant to the European Capital of Culture initiative, such as Sustainability and Legacy. They also participated in workshops incorporating AI technology to develop strategic approaches for contemporary cities and explored the vibrant cultural and creative scene of Cluj-Napoca through an immersive program.
