On the occasion of 2023 Eleusis’ tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe, this original sound performance includes excerpts from Aeschylus’ “The Suppliants,” testimonies of women refugees from 1922, as well as original texts by Marianna Kalbari, who is in charge of the project’s directorial curation. Performed by actress and director Maria Protopappa.

Clock Tower Voices is a series that includes interpretations of landmark literature texts by distinguished artists, marking Mystery 2, which aims to become a permanent reoccurring celebration for the city. The activation of the landmark of the Clock, both symbolically and literally, places the action at the heart of Elefsina, while the pedestrian walkway next to the archaeological site functions as a place of public meeting for residents and visitors, the spectators of the action.
