Events that took place in the waters just outside where you are now standing. As as a tragedy of humanity, as a microsystem reflecting on issues of existence and coexistence, unresolved over the centuries, becomes, under the direction of Karantzas, a common ground for a conversation that indirectly illuminates the multiple global challenges of today.\u00a0The theater is the public space, the Church of the Municipality, the City. The Persian Chorus, the \u201csociety\u201d, begins with faith and obedience, ending, after annihilation, in an anarchic crowd without a guide or point of reference. The performance premiers at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, with more than 14,000 spectators (July 15 &amp; 16, 2022), while it attracted more than 4,000 spectators in Elefsina.<\/p>\r\n<div id='gallery-2' class='gallery galleryid-8523 gallery-columns-1 gallery-size-full'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/2023eleusis.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/31072022-perses-81-1024x682-1.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/2023eleusis.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/31072022-perses-81-1024x682-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/2023eleusis.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/31072022-perses-81-1024x682-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/2023eleusis.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/31072022-perses-81-1024x682-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><em>Klytaimn\u1e17stra<\/em><\/strong><em>, <\/em>by the renowned Belgian group <strong>tg STAN<\/strong>, which opened the dialogue on Aeschylus on July 23 &amp; 24 at the Old Olive Mill Open Theater, is based on an idea by <strong>Jolente De Keersmaeker<\/strong>, and approaches the three different versions of the first part of\u00a0<strong>Oresteia\u00a0<\/strong>in an unexpected way:\u00a0it connects the astonishing poetic power of the original work by\u00a0<strong>Aeschylus\u00a0<\/strong>with the skillful translation into English by\u00a0<strong>Ted Hughes<\/strong>, and \u201cinjects\u201d it with Austrian author\u00a0<strong>Gustav Ernst\u2019s\u00a0<em>Blood Bath<\/em><\/strong>, a work of raw and dismembered poetry. With three Greek actors, <strong>Maria Skoula<\/strong>, <strong>Antonis Antonopoulos <\/strong>and <strong>Eleni Moleski<\/strong>, three Belgian actors, <strong>Sara\u00a0 Haeck, Stijn Van Opstal<\/strong> and young <strong>Adriana Bakker, <\/strong>two dancers, <strong>Synne Enoksen<\/strong> from Norway and <strong>Joshua Serafin <\/strong>from the Philippines, tg STAN\u2019s <strong><em>Klytaimn\u1e17stra<\/em><\/strong> creates an unexpected polyphonic ensemble. By combining speech and dance, aligned with the Greek choral tradition, the performance emphatically highlights an important paradox: women who were silent in the real world in antiquity gained a public function in the works of the great tragedians: the freedom to put their feelings, thoughts and motives into words.
