In 1822, on a mandate from Alexandros Mavrokordatos, the residents of Kountoura provide the Ministry of Naval Affairs with 3.5 tons of turpentine, 10.5 tons of tar and 10.5 tons of resin.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The ammunition was produced after the collection of resin the rich local pine forest yielded. Local resin producers made sure to rent the land required for exploitation in winter to be able to work from March to October. Every resin producer was able to cultivate pines amounting to 25-30 karokia. Karoki was initially a container and the measurement unit of resin production equal to 17-20 okades (22 kilos) of resin.
