The speaker at the 1st Workshop held on 4-5 December 2021 on \u201c<strong>Body and Movement Research<\/strong>\u201d was the choreographer and artistic director of the Academy,\u00a0<strong>Patricia Apergi<\/strong>, while at the 2nd Workshop \u201c<strong>Composition and Drama<\/strong>\u201c, held on 8-9 January 2022 , the speaker was the playwright\u00a0<strong>Roberto Fratini Serafide<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-7892 gallery-columns-1 gallery-size-full'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/2023eleusis.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/001_E2023_DanceAcademy_20220306.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>A few words about the U(R)TOPIAS Academy of Choreography<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>U(R)TOPIAS Academy of Choreography<\/strong> under the artistic direction of Patricia Apergi collaborates with young professional choreographers who are interested in cultivating their skills in the field of composition and choreography. Each young choreographer is invited to construct his personal utopia, his own non-place and present it as a dance work. The aim is to highlight emblematic sites of Elefsina through the site-specific works of choreographers, creating a new map of the city of Elefsina. Through their participation in the Academy they will be able to develop their synthetic skills and shape their own creative approaches, under the guidance of distinguished creators and professionals from the field of arts, art historians and theorists as well as producers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The theme of U(R)TOPIAS as the common \u201cplace\u201d of the project.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>European Capital of Culture<\/strong>\u00a0can be a great opportunity to rethink Europe as a utopia. What happens if we treat Europe as a region \u201cwithout place\u201d (from the Greek: \u03bf\u03c5=not + \u03c4\u03cc\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2=place)? That is, as a place where there is no discrimination or inequality. This turn can be crucial for Europe and could once again create a common utopia for European citizens. The academy is here to reopen the dialogue about this utopia.<\/p>\r\n<div id='gallery-2' class='gallery galleryid-7892 gallery-columns-2 gallery-size-full'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon portrait'>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/2023eleusis.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/024_E2023_DanceAcademy_20220306.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/2023eleusis.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/035_E2023_DanceAcademy_20220306-1.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Academy\u2019s name is inspired by the word \u201cUtopia,\u201d which is defined as the ideal place to live. The term was coined from ancient Greek, where \u201c\u03bf\u1f50\u201d stands for \u201cnot\u201d and \u201c\u03c4\u03cc\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2\u201d stands for place. Joined, the two words compose \u201cutopia,\u201d i.e., the place that doesn\u2019t exist. The Academy of Choreography is here to redefine this place, with the main goal of establishing today\u2019s utopia, through the knowledge of the past. Utopia transforms to U(R)TOPIAS, self-defining its existence through the Anglo-Saxon prefix \u201cur,\u201d which means ancient, primitive, original and lending this name to the entire project.
