More than <strong>20,000 <\/strong>people visited the electronic proposal submission platform, while artists, art groups and organizations from <strong>more than 40 countries <\/strong>submitted their proposals, <strong>while a 3% of the proposals came from the region of West Attica.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The selected projects\/actions will take place in 2022 and 2023, co-shaping the ECoC\u2019s artistic programme, which is entitled \u201c<strong>MYSTERIES of TRANSITION<\/strong>,\u201d and centers around three main thematic axes. Of the proposals submitted, 66% relate to the theme \u201c<strong>People\/Society<\/strong>,\u201d 24% to the theme \u201c<strong>Environment<\/strong>\u201d and 10% to the theme \u201c<strong>Labor<\/strong>.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was also a rich variation in the selection of categories for the projects, as proposals related to multiple areas of art and creation. The categories \u201cCommunity Engagement Projects,\u201d \u201cVisual Arts,\u201d \u201cInterdisciplinary projects\u201d and \u201cArtistic and Research programs for the public space and the environment\u201d gathered most submissions, followed by these categories: \u201cTheater,\u201d \u201cInstallation Art,\u201d \u201cPerformance Art,\u201d \u201cMusic,\u201d \u201cEducational Programmes,\u201d \u201cDance,\u201d and \u201cCinema.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Focusing on one of the structural objectives of the ECoC for the exchange of ideas between European countries, <strong>49% of proposals<\/strong> include collaboration with another European Capital of Culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The submitted proposals shall be evaluated by the\u00a0General Artistic Directorate\u00a0of <strong>Elefsina, European Capital of Culture for 2023<\/strong>, according to the guidelines of the European Union on the European Capitals of Culture and the strategic objectives, artistic vision and themes set out by Elefsina, European Capital of Culture for 2023.
