{"id":5912,"date":"2016-06-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-26T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/2023eleusis.eu\/quot-meeting-the-odyssey-quot-in-eleusis-a-modern-odyssey-continues-its-journey-3\/"},"modified":"2022-10-04T22:23:15","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T19:23:15","slug":"quot-meeting-the-odyssey-quot-in-eleusis-a-modern-odyssey-continues-its-journey-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2023eleusis.eu\/en\/quot-meeting-the-odyssey-quot-in-eleusis-a-modern-odyssey-continues-its-journey-3\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Meeting the Odyssey&#8221; in Eleusis: A &#8216;modern Odyssey&#8217; continues its journey"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb_row vc_row  mk-fullwidth-false  attched-false    vc_row-fluid  js-master-row mk-in-viewport\">\n<div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column column_container  _ height-full\">\n<p>The exciting intercultural journey of \u201cMeeting the Odyssey\u201d continues its journey!<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">After its arrival at Eleusis port on June 3rd, the historic \u201cHoppet\u201d wandered around the Saronic gulf and the Aegean sea (Leros, Lesvos, Lavrio) and from 26th June is bringing a large group of performers and artists from all over Europe again in the candidate city for European Capital of Culture 2021 for four unique performances with free admission to the Old Oil Mill Factory and for many events, seminars and workshops.<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-block-8\" class=\"mk-text-block   \">\n<p>More specifically, within the Aeschylia Festival \u201cMeeting the Odyssey\u201d will present two performances, the \u201cMemories for Life\u201d and \u201clanding_an odyssey\u201d in the Old Oil Mill Factory and the Instant performance \u201cRoutes on Roots\u201d by OSMOSIS group directed by Euripides Laskaridis in collaboration with Aspasia-Maria Alexiou and the Association of Asia Minor in Eleusis.<\/p>\n<p>On June 29 at 22:00, the group \u201cMeeting the Odyssey\u201d will present \u201cMemories for Life\u201d, a physical multilingual performance about the past and the present, the old and the young. In \u201cMemories for Life\u201d seven people relive the journey of their lives and try to tell their personal stories which have defined themselves in an environment where memories, reality and dreams are equal. The show is inspired by Homer\u2019s Odyssey and the world as it is today, embodied by a set of young European actors and directed by Maria Lundstr\u00f6m, artistic director of Viirus Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>On June 30 and July 2-3, at 22:00, the group of \u201cMeeting the Odyssey\u201d, will present for the first time in Greece the performance \u201clanding_an odyssey\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Taking in consideration the concept of \u2018return\u2019 the performers will highlight the other side of \u201cnostos\u201d, nostalgia \u2013 the desire to reveal what is always leading to new meetings, conflicts and tragedies. In this sense, the \u201cdrop-off\u201d or \u201clanding\u201d, especially after a long absence, it opens the way for a different look, towards an unknown dimension. Directed by Michele Losi and Peter Kirk, the show asks \u201care we confident that we want to go back to Ithaca?\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Returning to Eleusis, \u201cMeeting the Odyssey\u201d meets OSMOSIS group and the Association of Asia Minor in Eleusis, which are creating an instant performance, opening a dialogue on the issues of refugees and uprooting.<\/p>\n<p>So, Euripides Laskaridis and OSMOSIS group settled down in Eleusis for 10 days. Through their creative meetings with the Association of Asia Minor in Eleusis, they met numerous residents of the Settlement, their stories, their homes. All this became the material for this experiential promenade, which will take place only once on Tuesday June 28 at 19:45, starting from the Museum of Asia Minor in Eleusis and with the participation of the residents of the Settlement.<\/p>\n<p>More information about the project \u201cMeeting the Odyssey\u201d can be found at the website www.meetingtheodyssey.eu<\/p>\n<p>The project \u201cMeeting the Odyssey\u201d is funded by the \u201cCulture\u201d programme of European Commission.
