She has a dream, but it’s\u00a0 realisation is proving difficult for\u00a0 her \u2013 however, Zahra is a fighter.\u00a0 <\/span>Bike Bird <\/span><\/i>is a story about the\u00a0 balance between two cultures.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The stop-motion animation film\u00a0 <\/span>Louis and Luca \u2013 Mission to the\u00a0 Moon <\/span><\/i>(2018) is the third and final\u00a0 film in the <\/span>Louis and Luca <\/span><\/i>trilogy,\u00a0 based on the characters created\u00a0 by Kjell Aukrust. The story is set\u00a0 in a fictional Norwegian village,\u00a0 Fl\u00e5klypa, where inventor Reodor\u00a0 Felgen is preparing a mission to the\u00a0 Moon. Reodor\u2019s parrot, Louis, is\u00a0 also his chosen astronaut, but the\u00a0 mission will not be easy. During\u00a0 the trip, Louis and his friend Luca,\u00a0 the hedgehog, will face various\u00a0 challenges, including foul weather,\u00a0 mechanical failures, and secret\u00a0 passengers. Eventually, they will\u00a0 make it to the Moon, but there\u00a0 they will discover that something\u00a0 is wrong. The film is full of\u00a0 adventure, humour and emotion.\u00a0 It is a fun and educational film for\u00a0 children and families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On the occasion of Elefsina\u00a0 becoming a European Capital of\u00a0 Culture for 2023, the documentary\u00a0 <\/span>Dark Waters <\/span><\/i>focuses on the sea,\u00a0 the most vital part of the city,\u00a0 with the aim of exploring and\u00a0 highlighting the different aspects\u00a0 of a city whose image and identity\u00a0 is characterised by great contrasts\u00a0 and contradictions. In Elefsina,\u00a0 the Upper World coexists with\u00a0 the Underworld, which gives\u00a0 the city a mystical and totally\u00a0 unique identity. The myth of\u00a0 Demeter and Persephone and the\u00a0 Eleusinian Mysteries inhabit the\u00a0 same space as heavy industry, a\u00a0 ship graveyard at the bottom of\u00a0 the bay, and a city built with its\u00a0 back turned to the sea. And while\u00a0 the marine environment, the city,\u00a0 and its people converse with each\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>other, a reality and image of the\u00a0 city, unknown to many, begins to\u00a0 unfold. The world of the seabed,\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>the familiar and the unfamiliar,\u00a0 the wounded and the bright, form\u00a0 the shape of a city that pulsates\u00a0 between darkness and light,\u00a0 exploring its new identity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n SPORTZAL<\/strong> Discussion with the directors will follow.<\/p>\n For the last 27 years, Pantelis (72\u00a0 years old), refugee from Pontus,\u00a0 athlete, and distinguished coach in\u00a0 Kazakhstan, has been coaching the\u00a0 children of the Pontic community\u00a0 in Aspropyrgos. He himself\u00a0 continues to train with them.<\/span><\/p>\n A travelogue that explores the\u00a0 physical and mental breakdown\u00a0 of workers in cities across the\u00a0 country. Through an audiovisual\u00a0 investigation, Vangelis Gkinis studies the world of labour with\u00a0 a focus on the working class in\u00a0 Greece. Starting from Elefsina, the\u00a0 city in which he lives and works, he travelled for six months across the\u00a0 country, covering a total of 4,755\u00a0 kilometres and visiting 13 cities in\u00a0 Greece to interview and capture <\/span>workers from different sectors,\u00a0 their workplaces, and personal\u00a0 belongings. The video material\u00a0 consists of footage taken during the\u00a0 artist\u2019s journey with a camera or\u00a0 his mobile phone, combined with\u00a0 excerpts of anonymous recorded\u00a0 interviews with workers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The new film by Filippos Koutsaftis is a cinematic mosaic that attempts to\u00a0 assemble the dynamic portrait of Elefsina through snapshots of everyday life,\u00a0 oblique glances at the historical past of the city, from antiquity to the 20th\u00a0 century and, above all, the micro-histories that the director has compiled,\u00a0 collecting testimonies from residents about their life in Elefsina and their\u00a0 particular relationship with the city. Thus, the portrait of Elefsina appears\u00a0 as a sum of individual portraits and the term \u201canthropogeography\u201d takes\u00a0 on an almost literal dimension, in that the city is essentially composed of\u00a0 its citizens, prominent, and anonymous, past and present, living and dead.<\/p>\n The foundation for the project consists of more than 80 hours of archival\u00a0 material, which the director acquired during the shooting of his first film\u00a0 about Elefsina,\u00a0Agelastos Petra<\/i>, over a period of twelve years, from 1988 to 2000. To this material \u2013 an expression of nativeness and a reservoir\u00a0 of cultural memory \u2013 new elements collected by the filmmaker in the 21st\u00a0 century have been added, with testimonies of younger residents and images\u00a0 depicting the tectonic changes that have occurred in the character\u00a0 of Elefsina over time.<\/p>\n The creative interweaving of timelessness and synchronicity sets the tone for\u00a0 the whole film (which is constantly in progress, like Elefsina itself), whether\u00a0 on the micro level, with testimonies of old and young residents and images\u00a0 of everyday life, or on the macro level, with reflections and snapshots\u00a0 that shed light on the cultural heritage and local history, as well as on the\u00a0 developments gradually shaping the new character of the city and bringing\u00a0 about decisive changes in the conditions and lifestyle of its inhabitants.<\/p>\n Taking the Eleusinian Mysteries as a discreet but perceptible and persistent\u00a0 reference point, utilising their universal implications and existential\u00a0 extensions, Filippos Koutsaftis ultimately attempts to extrapolate and\u00a0 transcribe his material into an ontological horizon of reference, so that the\u00a0 portrait of the concrete and historical Elefsina is at the same time a portrait\u00a0 of a marginally symbolic and visionary Elefsina, a city that transcends\u00a0 geographical boundaries and constitutes the spiritual capital of the\u00a0 European and the Western world in general.<\/p>\n Can just one screen fit all the\u00a0 Mysteries of an entire year? From the\u00a0 colourful mosaic of Elefsina to the\u00a0 rural communities of Aspropyrgos\u00a0 and the manufacturing centres\u00a0 of Megara, a network of\u00a0mystae\u00a0<\/i>[initiates] began to set up and\u00a0 operate in West Attica. These are\u00a0 some of the most defining moments\u00a0 in their formation, always committed\u00a0 \u2013 and therefore decisive \u2013\u00a0to the\u00a0realisation of the artistic vision of\u00a0 2023 Eleusis.<\/p>\n Some of the most renowned and\u00a0 acclaimed contemporary creators\u00a0 came to Elefsina, experienced the\u00a0\u00a0energy of the place, and presented\u00a0 their works as confessions of this\u00a0 experience. With the images they will record and the objects they will collect during the tour as their starting point, they will use collage and printmaking techniques to depict a utopian futuristic Elefsina. They will then digitally manipulate the images created, adding elements of typography, to produce a series of brochures for an archaeology of the future.
